Key activities conducted by the DEI specialist may include:

Identify and convene relevant stakeholders quickly to understand the situation and develop a plan.
Work with leadership to identify who needs to be informed, what they need to know and how.
Develop a clear and aligned communication plan, including messaging to staff and/or students, parents and community members.
Identify actions needed to address the crisis and ensure it doesn’t repeat.
Develop supports needed to help the community process the situation and move forward with resolve.
